It's embarassing to have Feinstein as my Senator. I wrote to her about her vote for Mukasey and received a letter full of the most self-serving bullshit, including a transcript of her remarks in his support to the Judiciary Committee. Her main point seemed to be that if he were not confirmed, Justice would be in the hands of an "Acting" head until Bush left office, as though that would or could make things worse than they already were. She's either deluded or a pawn, and it really makes my blood pressure go up.
Of my senators, Durbin is an establishment Democrat (although he has had his moments) and Obama is too busy running for president (although he did return to DC for the FISA vote). I've written both of them about a couple of issues, and got their standard boilerplate in response. Doesn't inspire confidence.
I really wish Dodd and Edwards were still in the race, but as long as the press is calling the shots, we'll get rewarmed platitudes.
