Here's a post that summarizes a lot of why I favor Edwards. He's the only real Democrat with substantial prospects, and I'm pretty tired of Republican-lite.
And here are further thoughts on it from Amanda Marcotte. My favorite comment so far, however, is by BooMan:
Perhaps because his wife is such an avid reader of blogs, Edwards' campaign tapped right into our zeitgeist. He came out with our insight front and center. You want Edwards' message? Here it is: 'Fuck David Broder, fuck Joe Klein, fuck Chris Matthews, fuck FOX News, fuck Tim Russert, fuck Mitch McConnell, fuck Big Oil, Big Pharma, and Big Defense. We don't need them. They won't negotiate in good faith. They're stacking the deck against us. And we can beat them by telling the truth and getting organized.' That's Edwards' message, and that is the message we have internalized both through our successes and our failures.
My sentiments exactly.
It's interesting, looking at my own thinking about the election, how I go on the basis of instinct, and that instinct usually turns out to be right. My former boss used to bank on it -- she was known to defer policy decisions until I figured out why I was uneasy with them. I've learned to trust those instincts, usually -- not that I close off the input, but I generally turn out to agree with myself as I accumulate more information.
So, it's Edwards.
