The thing about surfing in the morning is that stories wind up juxtaposed that might not otherwise ever connect for your.
I ran across this story from AP by way of Steven D at BooMan Tribune. This stuck out:
An EPA official said Tuesday there's a "distinct possibility" the agency won't take action to rid drinking water of a toxic rocket fuel ingredient that has contaminated public water supplies around the country.
Democratic senators called that unacceptable. They argued that states and local communities shouldn't have to bear the expense of cleansing their drinking water of perchlorate, which has been found in at least 395 sites in 35 states - or the risk of not doing so.
The toxin interferes with thyroid function and poses developmental health risks, particularly to fetuses.
The story itself is an old one -- administration foot-dragging in the face of someone in power actually having to take responsibility for something. But I had just seen this story at Andrew Sullivan about another bunch of anti-family planning loonies setting out to protest Griswold vs Connecticut.
Talk about taking off the gloves -- this has been the root of the forced-birth agenda all along. (The press release from the "Pill Kills" people is astonishing for the depth of its ignorance and mendacity. And no, I'm not going to link to them directly. If you want to send them a snarky e-mail, follow the link from Sullivan's post.)
If they want to protest something the Pill Kills people should be protesting rocket fuel.
And you know and I know it ain't gonna happen.
