I've Heard It Before

Sullivan's all excited about this:

''We will also consider the case for changing the law to allow civil partnerships to be called and classified as marriage."

That's the Tories making a bid for the gay vote.  Sullivan compares them to the American Republicans, but I think a more telling comparison is to the Democrats.  I mean, read that statement carefully:  "We will consider the case for changing the law. . . ."

That sounds to me very much like "I will work with Congress toward repeal of DADT. . . ."

Ring a bell?  And how much of an actual commitment do you see in either statement?
