They're still fighting. An excellent post by Jon Davidson at LGBT POV on NOM's effort to keep its petition signers secret.
I can't add to it, except to note that no one ever promised that exercise of First Amendment rights was without consequences. That's the way the "free marketplace of ideas" works -- you express your opinions and you get shot down if people object to them. It's that simple.
