Friday Gay Blogging, Video Edition

Quickie today -- I have another early appointment, but I thought you should have something to look at.

First, from Jim Burroway, 1 Corinthians against Prop 8:

Stage director Dave Barton was raised a fundamentalist Christian before coming out as gay. He’s well versed in Scripture, especially St. Paul’s first letter to the Corinthians. Using Chapter 13 as the script of the video “Love Poem,” Barton has produced an incredible statement against California’s Prop 8:

And speaking of ads, from Jeremy Hooper comes this nice take-down of an anti-marriage ad:

I keep wondering why these people can't just tell the truth -- oh, wait: they wouldn't have an argument then, would they?

Also via Hooper, Alaskan gays on Sarah Palin:

As for dessert, I'm not ready to post those kinds of videos here -- yet.

I changed my mind (not about videos for dessert). Due to the marvels of modern technology, I'm able to do this early, so here's more

An update on adoption in Florida, from the Miami Herald:

In court records, Assistant Attorney General Valerie Martin wrote that the state is trying to uphold public morality and working to ``encourage optimal family structure by seeking to place adoptive children in homes that have both a mother and a father.''

But Gill's attorneys maintain the state is discriminating against gays because no scientific research suggests that children fare better when raised by heterosexual parents.

A lawyer appointed by Lederman to represent the children in the case has recommended that Lederman grant the adoption petition. A court-appointed guardian also has recommended that Gill be allowed to adopt the boys.

And from CNN, a good article on coming out in Hollywood.

But Bragman observes that the decision to come out remains intensely personal.

"It's not a career move -- it's a personal move," he said. "[It's saying,] 'I need to do this for me.' "

There are still many performers and industry notables, he says, who threaten to sue if their sexuality is revealed. Others live gay social lives but don't talk about their sexuality -- the so-called "glass closet." And, as Bragman notes, gay stars are generally from the second tier: "There are still no A-list movie stars out of the closet, there are still no superstar athletes," he said.

"It's great to see how far we've come," he said. "[And] we all long for the day when it's a nonstory. But we're not there yet."

OK -- dessert for real. Let's see, what are we in the mood for today? Queerty has something yummy:
