I think it's a start to the window dressing, really. Whatever his faults as an administrator, it is becoming more and more clear that this Administration is willing to spend money on bombs but not on benefits, and it doesn't surprise me a bit that Walter Reed, like every other VA hospital in the country, is understaffed, underfunded, and not serving its patients well. The fact that a major news outlet was able to bring it to the attention of the public at a particularly fractious time in the debate over Iraq is lucky for the returning veterans, but I'll be surprised if the news blip lasts a full month unless the Republicans want to work it into their campaigning in '08.
