You have to wonder what the moral climate in this country would be like right now if the Catholic hierarchy and its allies on the evangelical right had been as vocal and forceful about torture as they have been about gay civil rights and reproductive choice.
I mean, has anyone heard of a Catholic priest refusing the sacraments to a candidate or incumbent who supported "enhanced interrogation techniques"? I haven't.
Moral guidance? Church teachings? Pfah.
